Thor Love and Thunder is currently reigning supreme at the box office both internationally and domestically. The Norse God of Thunder is enjoying a surging upward momentum in popularity this summer. For many who aren’t attending San Diego Comic-Con this week and still want to feel part of the geek energy which will enrapture the world you may find yourself going to see Thor Love and Thunder for the first time or returning for repeat viewings.
Why not bring your geeky friends, Jason and Ashley with you?
On the off chance you haven’t yet seen Thor Love and Thunder then you have to start by listening to our Thor Love and Thunder Predictions episode! We don’t nail everything 100%, but we have some fun and creative suggestions based on what we love most about the world of Thor and Asgard in the Marvel Comics Universe. Even though we have already seen the movie (after recording this episode), we would love to read about your predictions in the comments!
There are also 3 episodes of #MarvelClub you can watch on patreon RIGHT NOW! The 4th is dropping sooooooooon! When you join Marvel Club THIS MONTH ONLY you also get the badass EXCLUSIVE print by @Comickergirl of The Mighty Thor. We were so thrilled when we saw the original artwork and we know you’ll have an amazing place in your home for Jane Foster too.
We have an entire video playlist - hours of content! - you can enjoy to fill out your full THOR experience! If you want a real throwback we recommend beginning with this video reenacting the Origin of Thor. It’s a comedic sketch narrated by Jason which goes through the events of Thor’s first appearance:
Early on in the Geek History Lesson podcast’s lifetime we tackled Thor Odinson.
If, like Professor Ashley, you are more of a Loki fan you may not know that Loki Laufeyson was one of our OG batch of Geek History Lesson episodes and we RECAST it when the Loki series hit Disney+!
If you like the Loki television series you’ll love our Review of Episode 1!
For more Loki-content: when we were both employed by Loot Crate we unboxed a Loki-centric box and competed in a Loki trivia game for everything inside. Watch to see who wins below!
Beyond our Recommended Reading list we have a full video of Thor comic boo recommendations! Yes, this was aimed at audience members going into Thor: Ragnarok, but quality of Thor comic book stories still stands.
“That’s nice, Jason and Ashley, but I’m more of a movie person. How do I know these will be adapted to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?”
Well, none of us can know that for sure unless we work at Marvel Studios. Disclosure: neither of us works for Marvel Studios at the time of this blog post. If you’ve listened to the show for long enough you do know our predictions tend to be pretty spot on. We’ve predicted Sam Wilson becoming Captain America, the basic plots of Thor: Ragnarok, Loki, and Multiverse of Madness, so we feel confident suggesting you check out this super fun Geek History Lesson Extra discussion about Thor Stories the MCU Should Adapt!
BONUS Recommended Reading! The video below is aimed at audience members who had never read The Mighty Thor when Thor: Goddess of Thunder was breaking into the world.
Jason also did a video breaking down the end of Jane Foster’s time as Thor when The Mighty Thor wrapped up and took Super Friends’ questions LIVE! If you missed the video live when it aired this is as close as you can get to a real-time reaction from him about the end of the outstanding comic book series which inspired Thor Love and Thunder.
If you’re a Mighty Thor stan then we have more recent Geek History Lesson podcast content for you. We were finally able to cover Jane Foster, in her various incarnations Asgardians and otherwise, in a recent episode. We added to our Thor Love and Thunder celebration with Marvel’s Asgard Explained and this week’s episode on Valkyrie! The latter we talked about the trial and tribulations of recording on this week’s complimentary episode of the Geek History Lesson Extra podcast. It was fun, but it was tough! Nothing worth doing isn’t worth working on.
Lastly, one of our earliest episodes of Geek History Lesson Extra was a discussion of Our Favorite Asgardian Characters. The answers haven’t necessarily changed, but our hopes and dreams for how they be utilized within the Marvel Cinematic Universe have. There’s still a lot of Loki supremacy on one side of the equation (we bet you can figure out whose side that is!), and no consideration for character deaths we now know about 5 years later.
Thor Love and Thunder might be receiving mixed reviews from fans and critics - and you won’t know our feelings about it until the final #MarvelClub episode in our THOR series drops in about a week! - but we hope it brings you enjoyment. We hope these videos and podcasts enriched your experience of the story as much as making them did for us!
